Profundización financiera, innovación y tipo de cambio real:
el caso de México y Corea del Sur, 1970-2020

El objetivo del trabajo es analizar las implicaciones de la profundización financiera, la innovación tecnológica y la estructura de costos en la dinámica cambiaria. Para ello, mediante un modelo panel dinámico, se evalúa el impacto de la estructura financiera, la capacidad tecnológica y los costos laborales unitarios (CLU) sobre el tipo de cambio real (TCR), en 14 subsectores manufactureros de México y Corea del Sur durante el periodo 1990-2020. Los resultados principales revelan que: i) las fluctuaciones del CLU tienen efectos mixtos sobre el TCR; ii) en Corea del Sur, la dinámica financiera permite reducir la volatilidad cambiaria; iii) los choques en productividad estabilizan la paridad cambiaria en dicho país. En virtud de estos resultados, es importante el diseño de políticas económico/financieras orientadas a dinamizar los salarios, fomentar la tasa de innovación, impulsar la liquidez y, por ende, la eficiencia industrial; que en conjunto aseguren el equilibrio cambiario.
