Abstract

The scientific-technological collaboration has revealed itself as a hybrid mechanism of coordination of resources, for the promotion of the research activities that lead to the formation of technological capabilities and abilities in the organizations, necessary condition for a better innovative performance. In the knowledge-based economy, innovation is essential for competitiveness, and the role of universities as partners in collaborative agreements is very important. To better understand the exponential growth of technological cooperation agreements, the importance of innovation in competitive performance, and the claim that universities be more active in promoting innovation and economic development; solid theoretical and conceptual structures are required.
