El presente trabajo tiene como propósito discutir el marco teórico básico que sustenta algunos de los enfoques más difundidos sobre el valor social del tiempo, así como algunas de las principales propuestas acerca de las metodologías para su determinación. Finalmente, se presenta una estimación del valor social del tiempo para México, con base en una metodología directa que permite utilizar información disponible.
